RIP Listener

Default Description:

Listens for route updates sent by routers that use the Routing Information Protocol version 1 (RIPv1).

Additional Information:

Not installed by default, but if needed, you may install it later off the Windows Vista CD/DVD under Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Check "RIP Listener".

If you do not know what the RIP protocol is, you do not need this service installed. :)
