As the Year is coming to a close, I find myself turning to all of those wonderful people that truly believe their VCR/Frig/Stereo/Car is going to blow up on Jan 1st, and I ask of you folks...What are you going to worry about on Jan 2nd when everything is OK?
As far as all of those alien hunters out there, the BVs SETI@home Rankings [link removed] is being updated twice a day, morning and night...(PST) :)
And for another note, we are VERY close to getting a YEAR of CPU time under our belts! Congrats!
Merry X-mas to all...and to all...HAPPY GAMING!
Just as a side note, Phatcat455 did a fine job of contributing to the Dirty Joke Bulletin Board [link removed], so where is everyone else? :)
The Forums are up and running, I hope. :)
Late Dec. 22nd and Early 23rd, blackviper.com was down. The server went down for a few hours and the Net Admin had to rebuild some databases. Sorry for the problems.
Have a Happy X-mas!
The updates have been slow. There is plenty of stuff going on, but I just have not been able to put them all down here.
I am still working on getting the FORUMS up and running...soon...very soon...
The Patches Index is also pretty slow going. The Software CO's often change their site/links that it is pretty difficult (at best) to ensure that everything is correct. So, if you have a problem, that is more than likely the cause.
I have also found that it is more fun playing with games than writing about them.
I will still try and keep things going here, but please keep in mind that I am only one person... :)
Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is once again really close by.
I have completed updating the Character forms for the various games for this server, so send in those results!
By December 31, I should have the Forums up and running.
Things have been pretty slow around here. I now have both computers hooked to the internet and I can run a dedicated server with plenty of games. 'Bout time! :)
I discovered Reality recently and decided not to update the web site as often as I have been. Why you ask? No audience is a biggie. I spend around 1 to 2 hours a day updating and messing with the pages, for 10 hits. Not my idea of a good time.
Glad that I could join in on the SETI@Home [link removed] project. I have the program running as you read and I hope to make a dent in the information being processed. Check out BV's SETI@Home Page here [link removed]!
Glad that I could find a little time to update some photos that has been laying around...to include:
LANchester 2000 [link removed] LAN party Photos, Me on Halloween, My Kitty and My Car [link removed]!
The Forums should be up soon. I am changing Web Servers AGAIN, so I thank you for your patience.
Take Care! BV!
Happy late Halloween! Looks to me that Turkey Day is just around the corner and you know what that means: ALL the big games are going to hit the holiday season. Can you wait? I know I can't!
I completed a mass update of the site and also through in a pretty background for your viewing pleasure.
Happy Halloween! My pictures have had a slight delay due to me not being able to find enough time to get them together, but they should be up by the end of today!
The BlkViper.com Newsletter will be published twice a month and delivered into your E-Mail box. Subscribe today!
The LAN Party scheduled for October 23, 1999 at Black Viper's house, called LANchester 2000[link removed]! was a great success! Photo's and the players involved will soon follow!
I have finally received the photo's from the last LAN Party [link removed] and the Page will be updated as well as a lot of other options in the very near future, such as the Forums will all be available for use. Until then, Happy Gaming and Take Care!
I now have the Rage of Mages 2 Character Sheet Form [link removed] up and running as well as the ROM 2 Pages. Check them out!
RTS games seem to be coming of age, so to speak. AOE 2 has some great new features with some more interesting units to throw in to the mix. Nice one.
Coming to the grips of a new month, the beginning of the new fiscal year, and chugging down the downward slope to the New Year, I have found lots of things that I would enjoy doing, seeing and wanting...the industry is changing more rapid than ever before...For the better? Only time, a short time...will tell...
Coming to the end of the month, the end of the fiscal year, and beginning the downward slope to the New Year, I have found the industry is changing more rapid than ever before...For the better? Only time, a short time...will tell...
I just found out that DirectX 7.0 has been posted. Get the download HERE [link removed]!
There was lots of activity today on the Diablo Page and Darkstone
Page:
Flipper McQuack Updated her Diablo CHAR Melasina...
and Black Viper did more monster killing with ZeeMaa in Darkstone.
Here comes LANchester 2000 [link removed]!
A LAN Party [link removed] is scheduled for October 23, 1999 at Black Viper's house, called LANchester 2000 [link removed] ! Check out the LANchester 2000 Page [link removed] for more info!
I am currently working on a Character submissions form for the Darkstone and Diablo Character sheets. This may or may not take awhile... :)
Well, God Games released the Darkstone v1.03 patch a little to soon. The promise to fix any problems and post another one. Until then, I need to kill some monsters. TTFN!
Well, it did not take as long as I thought to switch over all of the hit counters. It is sort of a bummer that everyone starts again at zero! Refresh those pages! Get the counter a movin' on up!
After playing Darkstone for an extended period of time, I concluded that it is a pretty good game. Needless to say, I think that I am going to be spending much of my life trying to figure out where the time went to. I think I am aging just as fast now as how time is progressing in game time!
I should have the Darkstone Page looking good soon, but don't hold your breath.
My current Web Site Server told me in a E-Mail that FrontPage 2000 server extensions will not be available for another 2 months. Ugh. The painful wait. I think that I am going to install a different hit counter to see just how many people actually look at the site.
After attending a mini LAN Party [link removed] at Warthog's house for the celebration of Re-volt, I am most convinced that games ARE actually starting to get better and live up to my hopes. I was purchasing MANY games that not only disappointed, but just plain sucked! It seems to me that the developers are beginning to turn around...or I am just getting more picky about WHICH games I go buy!
Was I drawn to Best Buy? Fate. Who knows, but regardless, I purchased Darkstone and as far as I can tell from just a few minutes of game play, it looks to me to be a nice one.
Check out my new Darkstone Page and send me some information if you can.
LAN PARTY [link removed]! Was a great time! Spaz arrived all the way from San Diego to have a fun time playing Quake 2, Half-life and the surprise shocker of the Re-Volt Demo! Re-Volt is going to be a good one!
I added a Diablo Page to the long list of crap here.
LAN PARTY [link removed]! We are having a party in just a few days! E-Mail Warthog or Black Viper for more details and information or check out the LAN Party Page [link removed] for more!
I seem to me that it should only be about May, but here is September and I am really not ready for it! Life, though, goes on.
LAN PARTY [link removed]! We are having a party in just a few days! E-Mail Warthog or Black Viper for more details and information or check out the LAN Party Page [link removed] for more!
I have finally tried and updated the Interplay Patches Index. There is a lot of games on it and it took me a while to get them all straight.
After a great battle with Warthog in C & C Tiberian Sun over the weekend, I have now found the time to do some updating to the site. Still, there is a continuing process of find new stuff and try to put on the Site, so if the updates are slow, I am sorry.
My future plans are to include at least 4 or 5 discussion pages as well as all of the hit counters working again, but for now...I must wait...
I have also found out that Rage of Mages 2 went Gold.
I added a Monolith Patches Page [link removed] to the site.
I am also still waiting for my Web Server to support FP2000 server.
I have checked up once again on the status of Westwood Studios highly anticipated game Tiberian Sun! Looks to me that it FINALLY went Gold and is expecting to ship on the 27th. A LAN Party [link removed] is scheduled for the occasion and I will hopefully have everything working, like the Forum and Guest Book, by then.
I have looked into getting my FP2000 components working and they should be up in no time.
I added a Games Forum [link removed] discussion page to play with. Enjoy!
I have managed to finally write something in the NEWS! Reality has been sucking lately, so I have been occupied with other tasks.
I also think that I am going to add a web cam soon. I think that web cams are a great idea. We shall see.
My new server has not yet implemented FP2000 server extensions, so all of the hit counters are going to remain broken for awhile.
I have made some major changes to the site today. I have added many more pictures of My House [link removed] and My Truck [link removed]. As a result, there is 30 more pages here. Gotta love that!
Coming soon!: New Kitty Photo's, Car Photo's [link removed] and LAN Party Photo's [link removed] , Networking How 2, FAQ's, Search Page, Forum and much, much More!! Don't click away to far!
I had to repair much problems with the site today. Most is fixed, some it still floating out there, so if you see some problems or find a broken link, please let me know.
I updated many pages, so kind of just click around some and see what happens!
I had a itch and I had to scratch it. I needed to know what Front Page 2000 was all about and I am happy that I purchased it. It is much easier to use than I had first thought but there was much problems converting my old files over. If there is some errors, please notify me.
I wandered over to a co-workers house to put another LAN Party [link removed] in the history books yesterday. 6 People and 12 hours later, Lake L.A.ntastic [link removed] came to a close. I took some snap shots and they will be posted over at the LAN Party Page [link removed] as soon as I can get them developed. Maybe it will not take ma as long as it took to post the New House pictures [link removed] , but don't hold your breath. :)
I have also received many requests for some information on how to set up a LAN at home, and I will post the step by step for a small network soon at the LAN Party Page [link removed] .
I changed some information on my Spam Page. If you want a laugh, check it out! If you have someone Spamming you all of the damn time, send that page to them...
The updates have been few and far between just due to the fact that I have not done much lately. I hope to get a life soon, but I am not holding my breath.
I added a Furniture Wish List on My House Page [link removed] . Check it out and see what kind of weird tastes I really do have.
I added some stats to my Rage of Mages Page. I also added LucasArts to the Patches
Index [link removed] . More to come, so keep that browser where it is!
I have also am able to park my truck [link removed] in my garage now. The paint is fully cured.
Looks like it is time to start tearing apart! Pictures of the ongoing event should be posted like the
house [link removed] was, but not so often. It's gunna take much cash to do things right.
Happy 4th! Hope everyone has a great time!
I new month. Wow! Where has the time gone? The year is half over and I still think it is March!
There is some more updates to pages that I am working on. Check back soon! Working on putting together more pages and updating all of my links as well as adding more gaming information. Reality has shown it's ugly head once more, so my updates have been few and far between, but I have not forgot anything...I think! :)
I have added and moved a few pages for this MASS update...
I added some NEW photos to My House Page [link removed] for June 15, 1999. Check them out!
I added 2 NEW photos on My Kitty Page for June 15, 1999!
I added a NEW page for LAN Parties [link removed] .
I updated the SPAM Info Page [link removed] for some information on a ICQ Spammer that has been bugging me...
I have been playing Might and Magic 7 quite a bit and I am thinking about adding a page for that game...
That is all I can think of right now, but I am sure there is going to be plenty more for me to do. :)
I have set a record for the site. 100 hits in 24 hours. Wow! Thanks to all!
I also got a nasty gram from my ISP that they have received many complaints about me spamming newsgroups and "I cannot post again EVER to them for any reason"...people are such whiners! :) I sent a "Check out BlkViper.com" message to 300 out of 40000 newsgroups...got 100 hits in 24 hours, received a nasty gram from ISP...Now, I am still wondering why my mail is filled with total bullshit every day from sites scanning web pages for E-Mail addresses and turning around and selling them. And I am the bad guy? I am not even trying to make ANY MONEY! I am just killing time! Makes you think...
I have concluded that I needed to begin an Anti-spam campaign. It consists of a New Page [link removed] I placed on the site with some very valuable information about what to do if someone SPAMS you...Click Here [link removed]!
I added Interplay Patches Page [link removed] on the Site and it sure took much time to finish it up! I hope that someone actually uses it... :)
I have found out that Might and Magic 7 has been shipped. When it arrives in my hot little hands, I just may not drag myself away from the computer long enough to sleep. I spent over 100 hours on M&M 6, so I am greatly anticipating this installment. I did purchase MechWarrior 3 to hold off my withdrawals, but it just was not enough. Had to turn to Baulder's Gate for the RPG fix.
Well, I have to admit, I added the Stupid Crap Page [link removed] just so I can say that I have 100 pages on this site. Pretty STUPID, huh? :) But, I tell ya, there sure is a lot of Stupid Crap out there.
Well, I have updated My House [link removed] Photos Page with May 9th and May 13th. I still have to get the finished house pictures done, but they should be up soon.
I updated the Rage of Mages Page.
I updated the Powerslide Page.
I also checked out some more links to ensure they were all ok.
More to come, so don't go clicking to far away!
Well, I have settled into my New House [link removed] and sweet talked Ma Bell into hooking up the phone line in only 6 days. Go figure.
Anyway, there is a mass update of all pages coming soon. Pictures that I have been sitting on of the New House [link removed], etc. Also, I have found that some of my links do not work, IE, some photos were not loading up properly. That should be all corrected now.
My Utilities Page [link removed] has a few updates. Check it!
Cheats has also been updated with a few more...
Plenty More In The Works!
After a brutal bout with Reality, I was finally able to update some information on a few of my pages. Lots of stuff out there, take a gander at it!
I have finally recovered from a great LAN Party [link removed] session. It was at Warthogs palace and we all had a great time! Thinking about joining the party?!?
I devoted a large chunk of time to update some of the pages I have. Lots to look at, so wander around and check the stuff out!
I should have the new house pictures posted by tonight, so stay tuned. The move in date has not changed any, still May 28th.
I also might be getting a new kitty soon. I will know by the 18th of MAY. :)
Happy days are here! Quake 3 Arena Test is out! The download may be rather difficult to get due to high demand, but keep trying. Click Here to warp to the Official Q3 Arena Web Site. Current version is 1.05 as of today.
Happy Moms Day! I will give mine a ring tonight. What are YOU going to do? I also posted a couple of new pictures on the About Me Page. Check them out!
I rediscovered The Chickens Web Site [link removed] today. Head on over and give him a click!
Wow. I have a boring life. Not much else going on. I should have more house pictures [link removed] posted, but do not hold your breath. I am pretty close to my MAX MB on the web server I am using. I am soon going to have a dedicated line running my OWN web server, but that is still a few months down the road.
Today I finally posted the updated house pictures. Head on over to My House [link removed] to see the photos.
Lots of things have happened this week, to many to list, but everything good.
Newsbot v6.5 has been released. Point your browser to Utilities Page [link removed] for information.
Today, Roger Wilco was launched. It is now in version MARK I. It provides real-time voice chat over the internet and LAN. Go and check it out!
Today, Warthog sent me a URL of a great program called Roger Wilco. It provides real-time voice chat over the internet and LAN. Go and check it out!
I also added a quick couple of photos of My Kitty.
Hi and Welcome to another Month in 1999!
We will be having another LAN Party [link removed] soon. Currently, we are slated for Mid May, but that may change...
Check out the new Cheats Page [link removed] for codes and cracks for the latest games.
I was informed by my mortgage company that escrow will close 30 days early for me. Joy! Anyway, more pictures of the house will be posted as soon as they are developed.
As a result of escrow closing early, my CPU will not be upgraded for a couple more weeks. :( But by the time the next LANtastic party rolls around, I should have my dedicated server up and running. Stay tuned!
Hi and thank you for visiting!
I started up a New Rollcage Page [link removed]. I would like to have a contact list, Best Laps, and some cheat codes posted, but I do not know what location the High scores are located at.
Hello and welcome the NEW BlkViper.com. I have my site (finally) resolved to http://www.blkviper.com/ so update all of your bookmarks. :)
I have also included a counter on almost every page. I want to know what people are interested in...
I have bad news, at least for me. NONE of my Kitty pictures turned out, but I have taken more and I will post as soon as I can.
Hello and welcome to the News! After a great time at a Goatboys house playing Quake and Half-life for 12 hours, LANcaster 99 [link removed] comes to a close. Wow, some great times were had. I hope next time will even be bigger!
The Kitty Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. I do not have the energy to post them up now.
On a brighter note, InterNIC billed me for the Web Site Domain Name, so I hope to be up and running on Monday.
After searching hi and low...I found the official "The Matrix" web page. Click here for a ride on the wild side.
After waiting a rather long time to update, I finally have some news to post up.
1) If you have been wondering WHY your Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro feels so "sturdy," it is because there is two large ball bearings in the base of the joystick with room for 2 more. So if your stick is a little heavy, take the few screws out of the base and remove the added weight. As a side note, on the inside of the base cover, there is a few names molded into the base. Designers? Testers? Who knows.
2) I should have my site resolved to "blkviper.com" by the end of the week. Make sure you update your bookmarks!?! :)
3) I will have my Kitty pictures posted on Friday night...
4) I saw one of the best movies in a long time last night. 2 words: "The Matrix" If you are looking for a wild ride for a few hours, give it a try. I am rather hard to please :) and this movie blew me away...
For now, this is all I can come up with. Take care and thanks for visiting!
After wandering around to a few sites that I frequent, I decided to finally update some of the Newest Patches Page [link removed] and also hit 3DO Patches Page [link removed] some.
Last night, I had the chance to take my computer over to a friends house and play a little bit of Powerslide! It was a blast, with one problem. When we played the games on "IPX," we would, most of the time, be playing totally different games after only a couple of minutes. When we tried out the TCP/IP option, it ran flawlessly. Optimized for the internet? I think so. :)
Today turned out to be National Update Day! Most pages have been updated! Wonder around and see what you can find.
Soon, I shall not be at this location any more. I am in the process of setting up "blkviper.com" for real, and not just pretending. This may take some time.
I have added a few New Pages:
Today I traveled with friends to a computer show in Southern CA and picked me up a SB Live! Wow, does this little piece of silicon make a world of a difference. The sound actually comes ALIVE! I am pretty impressed with the outcome of it and happy that I spent the money. Now, I need to get a new stereo with 4 inputs vice only 2. Right now I am running my stereo rack and a set of amplified speakers w/sub. Even though I am not unhappy with the setup, I would rather have a system where I only have one volume control. Kind of messes with the brain if the rear is lower/higher than the front. Anyway, I think I will be happy for now.
Today I received a link from one of my good friends, Warthog with his new Web Site.
This Monday, I should have all of the LANtastic '99 [link removed] pictures up on the site, check back for all of your LAN party [link removed] needs! Soon, LANcaster '99 [link removed] will be held with even more excitement. The word is getting out!
Today I had a pleasent surprise when my good friend showed up at my house with a little kitten. I have been wanting one for sometime now, and he will do just fine. He is only about 7" long and so very cute. I should have some pictures up before to long, so stay tuned and watch out for the photo updates!
Well, I have now added a new My House Page [link removed] to the site. It took awhile to get the photos the way I wanted them, but I think I am still going to change them around a little. Anyway, I will add a few more when the pictures get back from the store, until then go and check them out! The photos take a while to load, but hang in there!
Well, I got a chance to go on up and pick up the photos that I dropped off last week, but unfortunately, I dumped off the wrong pictures! I have developed the pictures I have of my house that is being built here locally and so I will post a page with those on it and by Saturday, I should have the others developed as well as pictures of my truck and others! Stay tuned!
Well, I got a chance to update the New Patches Page [link removed] with v1.1 of Requiem. Head on over and get it!
Well, this weekend was an experience. I was the host of "LANtastic '99," [link removed] a LAN party [link removed] of 7 people and their computers in my house. The activities started at 8 am and ended at 9 PM, and we ONLY played Quake! Needless to say, we all had a great time and the people from work are talking about a bigger and better one in about a month. I cannot wait for it! In a couple of days, I will have the pictures posted on "LANtastic '99's" [link removed] own page. Maybe even a dedicated area for LAN parties [link removed] in general, but I am aware of a really good site called LANparty.com (go figure) with tons of information and hints on starting your own club/party.
I have dabbled in Baulder's Gate, also. Wow, what a nice game. I am still looking forward to Diablo 2, and I tell you, I will be one of the first to purchase a copy, maybe even while the CD's is still warm off of the "burner" :)
Anyway, I will update things soon. This weekend was pretty much covered, but as soon as the pictures return, I will be all over it again.
Well, I just checked out the Newsbot Site and found that v6.4 was released on 25 MAR99. If ya like to download files from Newsgroups, give Newsbot a try!
HAPPY HIGH-SPEED CONNECTS!
Well, even though I was not expecting to much from upgrading from a CHEAP no name brand 56k modem to a USR one, I was pleasantly
surprised to find that my ping time was cut drastically. From around 500-600 to 150-250. MAJOR improvement if you ask me.
It kind of just saved me a whole bunch of money from not having to buy a ISDN modem. :)
I have not updated the news lately, mainly because there has been nothing happening. Now that I can actually surf the net at a better connect (of which I can actually SEE what I connect at...previously, I Always connected @ 115,000...yea, right...).
I am going to check out a few more programs before I get to excited, but it is looking up for the internet.
HAPPY EASTER! (early) The Easter Bunny arrived in town! Hop on over to the Photo's Page to look at my latest encounter.
Microsoft released Internet Explorer 5 yesterday.
I traveled with a friend down to a Large computer show today and found so many bargains that my BRAIN locked up and I could not decide what to plunk my money on first. Needless to say, I was rather skeptical about buying parts off of a wood table, so I ended up at Fry's Electronics. Not the best deals (compared to the computer show), but some good ones regardless.
I found out that on 09Mar1999, Blizzard released a new patch for Starcraft/Brood War v1.5.
I worked on putting together some patches for some of the games that I do not have. Here is what I came up with today:
I found out that on 22FEB1999, ICQ99a was released. Where have I been? If you want to make some new contacts, or keep in touch with some old ones, ICQ is the way to go...
I decided on adding a Patches Index [link removed] page today. This will soon include ALL of the patches I can find available today. It is going to take much work, but I think it will become a valuable resource if I can keep up with it. I am thinking about making it so the patches are listed by Company and not just alphabetical. Right now it only includes the same information as on my previous Game Patches [link removed] page.
After much thought, I decided to go out and get some new games. I have not purchased any for quite sometime now. Check out the Games Listings for the entire collection.
I also worked on making all of the pages look pretty much the same. Some may still be a little out of whack, but they are starting to look pretty good. I added the neon bar between crap and on top of all pages. Cool, huh?
As you probably may have known for awhile now, DirectX 6.1 is out in full effect. If you are wanting to download Microsoft's latest creation, head over to the DirectX Site [link removed].
I just checked up on the Speed Running Demo's [link removed] at PlanetQuake [link removed] to find out that Tangent has updated the page! Quite a few demo's were released. Go check it out. I will have some more demo's as soon as Reality relaxes it's grasp. I have been trying really hard to make City1 @ :59, but it seems rather difficult. I tried ALL last night. To my disappointment, I was only able to make a 100.2. Just not good enough. I am not giving up, though! Check Back Soon!
I had the time to see if I could improve my Easy demo of city1 and got to shave just 1 second off. Go get it here.
After a small but well deserved vacation over the weekend with family and friends in Northern CA, I am ready to start working again. I found over at Speed Running Demo's [link removed] at PlanetQuake [link removed] that the Page was updated over the weekend with some new and FASTER demo's! Two of them mine! Well, it seems to me that maybe I am faster than I give myself credit for! Tonight, I plan on working on the Easy demo of city1 again to try and get it below 1 min. I think that will be the time to beat! There is still much room for improvement as it stands now, but I hope to do better with time. Until then, Happy Running!
After working on the Easy demo of city1 (only 2 hours this time), I finally got it down only one second less to 101.5. Get the file city1 @ 1:01 on Easy here! I am kind of proud of this one just because it is almost the smoothest I have done the demo, yet. There is still much room for improvement, but that will come with time...
After MUCH work on the Easy demo of boss2 (about 3 hours), I finally got it down to 45.6. Get the file boss2 @ 0:45 on Easy here. I am not sure if that is going to be it, or not, but I will still try to work on it. Happy Speed Running! Check out the Speed Running Page for more info!
I received a E-mail from Phil "Cain" Hall [link removed] on 22Feb1999...Head on over to the Q2 Speed Running Page to find out what he had to say...
I had a great time today playing PowerSlide online with some fast people. Go over and check out the new PowerSlide Page for some Info and a Contact list!
I know that on Feb 28th, Intel is going to roll out there new Pentium 3 processor, but I do not foresee a large coming of it. Well, don't get me wrong, I would love to have one, but I think I am going to wait until prices drop some. Locally, they are priced $670 (450MHz) and $900 (500MHz) for the CPU only. Not much along the lines of a budget PC, but what IS nice is it still uses the BX chipset, so all of the 100MHz bus clock people can still use there existing Mainboard. Can you find one cheaper?
I wondered on over to Speed Running Demo's [link removed] at PlanetQuake [link removed] to discover that the first posting of Q2 Speed Runs are up! I did make the cut, but as soon as the bug with dying with Makron is solved on boss2, I will begin trying on hard level...Until then, I will continue to practice city1 and see what I can come up with...
I updated the Patches Page [link removed] with some more links and found a great patch for Forsaken posted 25JAN1999. Get it here [link removed]. It solves a lot of feature problems plus adds Voodoo 2 SLI support. Ya cannot beat that! I do plan on putting as much patch information around here as possible with hardware and software, but currently, it is just dealing with games that I own. There is still some empty slots on the Patches Page [link removed], but my fingers and eyes gave out. :)
I read a discouraging article over at PlanetQuake [link removed] by Fairuz Lokman
pertaining to creation of a personal website. Even though there is plenty of good information, it seems to me that the writer
is more concerned with getting new and better information out to the public via the internet. I am just starting out and wanted
to get knee deep into HTML and the only way to do that is to try. I know that I cannot put up anything on this site that has
not been done before, better, and more in-depth, but how many times do we see a sequel in our lives? Quake 2 (soon 3), Wizardry
8, Terminator 2, and many more. Some are flops, few are better than the original, but they all are individual products. I
really do not like people continuing to dig up the past when it involves computer games. All First Person Shooters are spin
offs of Doom, All Real Time Strategy is a rehash of Dune/Warcraft/Command and Conquer. If you want to go that far, they are
ALL spin offs of PONG! Also, along the same lines, is a modern Scanning Cash Register at the Local Supermarket just a Abacus
2000? WAKE UP! The only way we can get new products is continue to improve on the existing ones. Very few people can come
up with a new idea, and when they do, everyone else jumps on the money train and tries to claim the fame for themselves...
If you are looking to read all about it, click here (removed because the article has moved since). I may not have a gaming insider path to stardom, but I want to try my
best and maybe, just maybe, end up being a good experience...
I have now jumped entirely into HTML. I had a Java Script bug that plagued my About
Me Page. I finally changed around some file names and the bug got squished. This is after three hours of chasing my tail
around, though.
Anyway, I have put a few improvements on the site, namely the Site Map to the right and some
changes on my Games Listing Page. Mostly cosmetic, though. New games include Asteroids
and MageSlayer. I will review them when I find the time to come up with a consistent format...
Until next time...
I added a new page and links! If you are a Rage of Mages fan, go check out my page containing a couple of hints.
I just updated the Q2 Speed Runs page, so go check it out!
I just checked up on the Speed Running Demo's [link removed] page to find out that q2timer v1.1 has been released. Go check it out. I will have some of my runs on this sight as well as on PlanetQuake [link removed].
I updated the Best Links page to include Magazines, online Gaming Networks, ETC. Check it out!
I finally figured out why the counter was not counting, it is because it does not count if the requesting IP is the same as the previous hit...duuuhhh!!! Oh well, I did not know that...hehe...
I saw over at PlanetQuake [link removed] that the Speed Running Demo's [link removed] for Quake 2 are going to be started up again. I entered a few last time they started up, but after the Q2 code was altered, the Running came to a halt. Major bummer. But in a couple of days, I will be at it again.
Hey, guess what? I am now on the net! I finally figured out how to post using my ISP as the host for my site. But very soon, you will be able to log on using "www.blkviper.com" just not now... I plan on updating a lot of stuff with links, gaming info, etc., so check back often. This is just a beginning.
Today I got this page up and running. Hope that you enjoy it. Even though it is a FP98 theme, I think it suites me well, but I hope to have my own stuff soon. Unfortunately, I am not an artist.
Well, today I almost have my Patches Page [link removed] the way that I want it. It took quite a bit of time to accomplish, but I think it looks pretty good. There is still some missing information, but I want to get this going so I can post it.
I finally got around to updating the FPS Benchmark Page [link removed] and I also fixed a few hyperlinks.
I concluded that my connection is just not enough for my speedy taste. I am thinking about getting ISDN hookup so I can actually play games online. Currently, my average ping time is around 600ms. Not what I would call a super performer. I believe it is a combination between poor/noisy phone line, and a less than acceptable modem. But, I was in the mood for Internet Access NOW, so I settled for less, not always the proper choice.
For this week, I did nothing of interest. I will, however, update the page more frequently as more things that I want to do will be come available and the added resources are at my disposal Until then, check back often, 'cause ya just might miss something.
